Licia Florio_Simplicity reborn

Licia Florio is part of the new generation of Milan young fashion designers.

Born in 1985 in Piedmont, she moved to Milan to study at Istituto Marangoni and she currently lives in the italian capital of fashion design.

She created the brand Licia Florio with the purpose to produce elegant, sober, but innovative collections, the perfect combination of lively talent, deep studies and a real Made in Italy.

She claimed fashion insiders’ attention due to her ability to create items that transmit a sense of balance, mastery and freshness.

The AW 2011/2012 collection is an interesting mix of asymmetric cuts and overlaps of fabrics that as final result lead to creations with a bon-ton aftertaste and a minimalist taste.

The predilection for soft shades is spaced out with wise touches of black wich dim the little doll effect and give an halo of urban dynamism.

Licia Florio’s creations join together the typical italian good craftmanship with a nordic boho-chic taste.

Nata in Piemonte nel 1985, si è trasferita a Milano per studiare all’Istituto Marangoni dove tuttora vive e lavora come designer.

Ha dato vita al brand Licia Florio con la ferma volontà di produrre collezioni di un’eleganza discreta, ma innovativa, risultato della perfetta combinazione di vivace talento, studio approfondito e di un vero Made in Italy.

Si è imposta all’attenzione degli addetti ai lavori grazie alla capacità di creare capi che trasmettono un senso di equilibrio, sapienza e freschezza.

La collezione AW 2011/2012 è un interessante mix di tagli asimmetrici e sovrapposizioni di tessuti, che come risultato finale sfociano in abitini con un retrogusto bon-ton ed un sapore minimalista.

La predilezione per tinte tenui è intervallata da sapienti tocchi di nero che smorzano l’effetto bambolina, per donare un’aura di dinamismo metropolitano.

Le creazioni di Licia Florio uniscono l’alta capacità sartoriale tipicamente italiana ad un gusto boho-chic nordico.

Truth-be-told, this collection was thought up while watching Funny Face for the millionth time last night- this scene specifically. One of the reasons I love pink so much is that it makes me think of the 50s and 60s, when pink was all the rage.

New fashion designers/Collections|Made with milk

I met the italian brand Made with milk for the first time last february in Milan, at White fair, during SS 2011 fashion week.

Among aseptic stands, useless experimentalisms and excessive fashion games I found a oasis of peace and elegance at Made with milk’s stand.

The two designers received me in their little corner made by milk fiber, old pictures and a neverending friendship.

Behind Made with milk there are Chiara Pochetti and Vera Facchetti.

Neither Chiara nor Vera studied fashion or design, but an impeccable taste and a bold nose for the right innovations brought them to the creation of Made with milk.

The name holds all the sweetness and the beauty of a brand wich is characterized by the use of milk fiber.

Made with milk’s creations are jewels of a delicate sophistication, a little bit preppy, a little bit nostalgic, wich mix softness with perfect cuts and enrichments made by folds and ruches.

The soft colors are rarely broken up by darker shades and it’s easy to gather that the aim is to remain in the ranks of anything made with milk.

So, pink becomes a strawberry frappé, brown becomes milk chocolate and cream covers little dresses wich smell like the sweetest winter.

The most tender and childlike milk shades are revisited in an extremely feminine and contemporary perspective wich eliminates any mawkish note and leave beautiful creations without excess and worthy of the best ready to wear catwalks.

Il primo incontro con il brand Made with milk l’ho avuto lo scorso febbraio a Milano alla fiera White, durante la Settimana della Moda.

Tra stand asettici, proposte di sperimentalismi vacui e giochi di moda esageratamente provocatori, un’oasi di pace e di eleganza.

Le due designer, meravigliose e raffinate donne di classe, mi hanno accolta nel loro angolino fatto di fibra di latte, vecchie fotografie ed un’amicizia infinita.

Nessuna delle due viene da studi di moda e design, ma un gusto impeccabile ed uno spiccato fiuto per la giusta innovazione, le hanno portate a far nascere Made with milk.

Il nome racchiude tutta la dolcezza e la bellezza di un marchio che fa dell’uso della fibra di latte il principale pilastro e segno di riconoscimento.

Le creazioni Made with milk sono gioiellini di delicata raffinatezza, un po’ preppy, un po’ nostalgiche, che mescolano morbidezze a tagli perfetti e ad arricchimenti fatti di pieghe e ruches.

I colori tenui sono raramente interrotti da toni più scuri e si evince con chiarezza l’intento delle due stiliste di restare nei ranghi di tutto ciò che è fatto con il latte. 

E’ così dunque che il rosa diventa un frappé alla fragola, il marrone diventa cioccolato al latte e la panna si gusta in abitini che profumano dell’inverno più dolce.

Le sfumature più tenere ed infantili del latte, sono riviste in un’ottica estremamente femminile e contemporanea che toglie ogni possibile nota stucchevole, lasciando solo delle creazioni avulse da eccessi e degne delle migliori passerelle di prêt-à-porter.

collections : the roaring twenties.

On Saturday, I happily sat in a movie theater and watched Midnight in Paris, which not only did I thoroughly enjoy, but it also once again reignited my deep love for the early twentieth-century. I get so captivated by the music, art, style, and crazy soirees... ah, those golden twenties.

Collections/Inspirations|Back to autumn with Monki

Since my travel to Stockholm is near and autumn too, I think it’s the moment to share with you some first very autumnal inspirations.

Wandering on the web looking for places to visit and shops to chase up in the Swedish capital city with my sweet half, we find the web site of the scandinavian brand Monki.

I’ve heard something about that brand months ago by the blogger Susie Bubble, but I hadn’t deepen yet.

I have to say I’m a big fan of preppy and naïf lines, above all for autumn. The main colors of the collection, mustard, tobacco, grey, blue, burgundy are perfect for a city, dynamic but retrò autumn.

Also prices seem to be rather low and quality seems high (I’ll check once there).

Waiting to add some Monki items to my walk-in closet, I leave you with the super amusing pictures of the FW 2011/2012 campaign, I really loved them!

Visto che il mio viaggio a Stoccolma e l’autunno si avvicinano, mi sembra il caso di condividere le prime vere ispirazioni autunnali.

Girovagando per il web alla ricerca dei posti da visitare e dei negozietti da scovare nella capitale svedese, in compagnia della mia dolce metà, ci è capitato sotto gli occhi il sito del brand scandinavo Monki.

Avevo già sentito parlare di questo brand dalla blogger Susie Bubble qualche mese fa, ma non ne avevo ancora approfondito la conoscenza.

Devo dire che le linee un po’ preppy un po’ naïf mi piacciono molto, soprattutto per l’autunno. I colori dominanti della collezione, senape, tabacco, grigio, blu, bordeaux sono perfetti per un autunno cittadino, dinamico, ma retrò, proprio come piace a me.

Anche i prezzi sono piuttosto accessibili e la qualità sembra alta (verificherò sul posto).

In attesa di aggiungere qualche capo Monki al mio guardaroba autunnale, vi lascio con le divertentissime immagini della campagna FW 2011/2012, io le ho adorate!
