That title is totally a Wizard of Oz reference - if you didn't get it I prescribe a steady diet of all the books and the movie.
The Mister's company picnic this year was at our local u-pick farm/orchard, which worked out nicely since we been wanting to go apple picking. It really is a fun place to go with lots of activities for kids. Short Pants and Pita Pocket were All About the pony rides. They'd never been before and were so excited - I love their happy faces in these pictures:
They also got to do a bit of "gem mining" so Short Pants could get in his rock fix. He's been collecting rocks and gems for a few years now and shows no sign of stopping:
After that it was into the giant corn maze:
Down the huge slide:
And over to feed the goats and deer:
Then we loaded up onto the wagon that goes out to the apple orchard. We were too busy (and maybe a bit too lazy) to make our own applesauce last year, but it's so yummy that we decided to pick enough to make it this year.
The boys have been playing "apple orchard" with their lego brothers and tractors ever since. Meanwhile, I'm thinking I'd better find our apple slicer:
