Ahoy!

This is how I welcomed Fall yesterday. By wearing a Summery nautical outfit in 80 something degree weather. But that's Fall here in SoCal. Warm and sunny. Although I must say I long for cold rainy days. This Eva Franco skirt is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. It's simply a.m.a.z.i.n.g!

That Girl

My favorite fashion era is definitely the 1960's. So naturally, a lot of my outfits are influenced by the 60's. This reminds me a lot of something Ann Marie from That Girl would wear. I haven't dressed up in a costume for Halloween since I was a teenager, but I must say, this would make a great costume. Anyway, any plans for the long weekend?! Mine will consist of shopping (yay for Labor Day sales), going vintage shopping, maybe some sewing, reading, and relaxing!

Pushing Daisies

Another super hot day in L.A. today, which means light weight dresses and sandals! I love the simple floral (daisies?) print on this dress. Usually I don't like wearing white because it tends to get dirty really fast, but this dress is the exception (and the only exception). I love the simplicity of this outfit, yet it's quite lively.

Coral

I've been really into the 1940's lately and admit I've started a little collection of retro 40's dresses, this one included. I love the cut of this dress, it's very flattering on all body types.
Well I'm off to Vegas in a couple of days for Magic so I won't be posting for the next few days. I constantly update on Instagram though, so look for me "dearbeatrice."

Bottles

IMG_3775
Another novelty printed dress! This one has little perfume bottles with little rose buds all over. I paired it with the burgundy wedges to bring out the deep red and pink colors of the dress. Also, if you've noticed, I wear this little burgundy vintage ring a lot. The best twenty five cents I have ever spent in my life (so far). What is one of the best items you've ever bought for close to nothing?!

Scotties Everywhere

It's no secret I'm a dog person, sorry Hello Kitty. So when I saw this dress with scotties printed all over and on sale I had to get it! Just another dress added to my novelty printed clothes collection. What is your current clothes obsession?!

A Proper Lady

This dress reminds me a bit of this Betty Draper Barbie dress. I felt so proper and ladylike the entire day in this sweet outfit.
Currently loving:
*A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin (yes, I'm one of those geeks)
*glitter nail polish
*big hair thanks to Bumpits
*silk scarves
*Tennis (the band, not the actual sport)

Mint Condition

There's something so wonderful about the color mint. It's so sweet and refreshing. After painting my nails mint a month ago I've been loving it. I love it even more so paired with orange (see scarf on my head). In other non- related news, I got a horrible sunburn on my chest from yesterday's trip to the flea market so I'm covering up for the rest of the week. I could seriously wear this pretty frock all week. What color are you loving lately?! ^.^

Victory

The other day I tried my hand at victory rolls for the first time ever. Definitely not easy to do, but I loved the end result! Hopefully I'll get better at it the more I style my hair in this manner. So to go along with my 1940's hairstyle I wore an easy, much shorter, 1940-ish looking dress. It's been so hot lately that I want to wear this outfit everyday to keep cool. Or at least the same formula of wearing an easy breezy dress with open toed shoes. I must admit though, I'm craving the layering looks that come with Fall and Winter. Can't wait!

Beatrice the Riveter?

IMG_3723
At the time I didn't think much of it, but I'm kind of reminded of Rosie the Riveter looking at these photos. Funny the things one notices after the fact. This hair style has been my daily go to as of late. Mainly for two reasons. The first being that it's super easy to do and second, which is the bigger reason, I don't know what to do with my hair. It's too long, but too short to work with. I guess it's in that awkward stage, but I'm trying to let it grow so I'm dealing the best I can. I wish there was a grow-long-right-now potion. If anyone knows of one, do let me know!

The Perfect Fair Dress (Minus the Fair)

I've been collecting novelty printed dresses lately and this one is a recent acquisition. I think it's the perfect dress to wear to the fair. I haven't gone yet, I don't really like going, but now I want to go just so I can wear this beauty. It also has a very comic book feel to it. True fact, I love comic books and manga. Geeky, I know...

Cats

Now, I'm more of a dog person than a cat person mainly because I'm allergic to cats, but I do love cats, especially one named Kitty White, aka Hello Kitty. On another entirely different note, here's what I'm currently loving in no particular order:

*jelly shoes
*1950's dresses
*That Girl (love all the outfits she wears!)
*Instagram (find me!)
*Freakonomics (the book)
*Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme

What are some of your current favorite things?!

Rehab?

Whoever graffitied the wall must have really needed rehab. Anyway, that's downtown L.A. for you. It's a little bit funny looking so sweet and lady like in such an urban area. I love it though. When I first saw this dress online, it took me a while to realize that there are little ballerinas printed all over. Of course I had to get it. I love going to ballets with my sister and we were actually in ballet classes together when we were little so I have a soft spot for anything ballet related. It reminds me of my sister and all the wonderful memories we've had together relating to ballet!

Like a Lady

There's nothing better than a low heel with bows! (think Ferragamo's Vara pump) This shoe is a much more affordable option to the Vara pump though. Another plus, is that they're green and the only green shoes I own! Now I want more green shoes, they're so much fun. If you notice, I pulled accessories with green shades to make the green shoes pop a little more. Did I mention I totally felt very lady like in this outfit? Well, I did. I sure do love a delicate lace dress, especially one with bows.
